The colors... at SOS!

This week at Shopping Our Stash we have something a little more uncommon for ya... a color challenge!

Here is the inspiration(al) palette:

This is my creation using them:

Supplies:

  • Teresa Collins modeling paste through a Dina Wakley stencil over letterpress paper, then painted with Loew Cornell watercolors corresponding to the color palette
  • The sandhill crane was fussy cut from a Sibley planner and coated with a texture-yielding layer of Distress Collage Medium in matte
  • I added a grassy stamp with Tim's mixed media palette at the bottom, and also shaded the crane with a Walnut Stain Distress Crayon
  • The panel was mounted on a black piece of textured cardstock and a Tim Holtz Small Easel die was cut to stand this baby up
My MIL is unwell, and I set this up in her house on her entry table to greet her when she comes home.  She is my biggest fan... I hope she likes it.

See you guys at SOS!

  4. Ok, this is one of my favorite pieces of yours. I don't know what it is, colors and textures or the bird, or all of the above, but the design really appeals to me.

  5. Gosh Mimi, I love this card, the texture of the background done with the modeling paste is so beautiful but then, you added those amazing colors and your fabulously fussy cut crane, which finishes this card perfectly. You always create fantastic mixed media cards, this one is no exception.
    Hugs,
    Maria.

  6. Mimi, this is a gorgeous work of art and how wonderful that you've set it up in your MIL's field of vision, so she can take comfort from it as she heals (sending prayers...). WOW...
